Quetzalcoatl Teaches Typing, 2013

This game was created in 48 hours at the Global Game Jam 2013. It is an Aztec-themed RTS typing tutor game, featuring impossibly-named Aztec gods and human sacrifice.

The video captures our final moments of debugging before presenting the project at the Global Game Jam exhibition, and also key moments during the exhibition, showing a quick peak into the game concept and the art in motion.

Originally, when Tim Conkling and Charlie Groves approached me to serve as the artist for the team, I was skeptical that such a unique and seemingly complex concept could actually be achieved within the time frame. However, to the delight and excitement of all team members, the game concept was indeed achieved, complete with functioning UI, intro and game over screens, and quick and dirty animations for flavor and feedback. I believe the success of the game can be attributed to the collaboration skills and professionalism of its designers.
